This Relais & Chateaux resort is set in a 19th century farmhouse on a 4,200-acre estate in the Great Smoky Mountains, 25 miles south of Knoxville, Tenn. Its Thanksgiving festivities begin this year on Wednesday, Nov. 26, with a welcome reception and musical accompaniment on the Main House verandah. Other activities throughout the weekend include a behind-the-scenes tour of the farmstead, a traditional Thanksgiving turkey fry, gingerbread house workshop, several bonfires with storytellers, and a fall harvest lunch and apple pressing.

A special Thanksgiving weekend package includes accommodations for a family of four (two adults and two children); daily buffet breakfast; transportation to and from and admission to Xcaret Ecological Park, an "eco-archaeological" park where visitors can swim with dolphins, snorkel and see cultural shows. The package starts at $320 per night, per room, with a three-night minimum stay. Two adults and two children can stay in one room.

Kids can also do arts and crafts and a scavenger hunt at the hotel or a walking tour of the village, and watch their own movies at night.

A "ski-nanny" package allows parents to ski while their kids are supervised by a nanny for a full day; this gives children transportation to and from the children's ski school in Beaver Creek Village, followed by snacks and a movie.

There will also be walking tours and horse-drawn hayrides through Cooperstown, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, and a cooking demonstration and wine pairing and tasting for adults. Santa and Mrs. Claus are even scheduled to make a special appearance in Cooperstown Friday evening.
