Just outside of Guadalajara, these two towns are famous for their pottery and ceramics. Even though they’re so close together, the style of crafts have distinct influences — Tlaquepaque’s from the Tonaltecan Indians, and Tonala’s older styles from the Atemajac Valley Indians. Tlaquepaque is more tourist-friendly, with tons of boutiques, galleries and restaurants, while Tonala feels more authentic, especially if you tour a workshop or hit the street market on Sunday.
