The travel glossies have deemed the Eagle and the Sun “the hottest restaurant in town” for its splashy interiors (including an arresting ceiling fresco of an Aztec sun) and creative takes on traditional pre-Columbian dishes. Martha Ortiz Chapa, the author of eight cookbooks and a bona fide cuisine star in her own right, can frequently be found presiding over the dining room. Though the menu changes frequently, standout dishes include custom-made aguas frescas, duck with black Oaxacan mole and grilled pork tamales.
