San Salvador is known for rich elkhorn coral reefs and long, unpopulated beaches. Some of the best snorkeling is found on the southern tip of the island at Sandy Point and nearby Grotto Bay. East Beach is another great site. All provide good excursions for reef fish. For a change, search for moray eels and grouper hiding in the wreck of the SS Frascate, a 261-foot freighter that ran aground in 1902 in just 20 feet of water.
