Don’t knock wooden roller coasters until you try them, especially the king of them all, The Beast. Hold on for dear life as the heart-pounding ride unleashes it power on 7,400 feet of track through three tunnels and two vertical drops. Holding the title as longest wooden coaster since its opening in 1979, a cult following has developed around The Beast, enough for Kings Island to build Son of the Beast, the second longest wooden coaster. More than 40 million passengers have ridden The Beast, and it is still one of the most popular attractions in the park but may be surpassed by this year’s opening of Diamondback, the tallest, fastest, and most intense coaster at Kings Island.
