Havel became the resident playwright here in the early 1960s. It was on this stage that his play The Garden Party launched 25 years of subtly subversive dramas, which were to become the subtext of many dissident struggles during the Cold War. At present, dramas (for example, Chekhov's Ivanov) are on the program here every evening at 7pm. Performances are in Czech.
