Museum of Church History and Art
This museum tells the story of the Mormon church through a variety of exhibits and programs. The collection includes both historic and contemporary artifacts and artwork. Past exhibitions have covered LDS founder Joseph Smith, biblical etchings by Rembrandt, and showcases of Mormon artists. This collection of church art and artifacts, started in 1869, includes Utah's earliest Mormon log home, rare 1849 Mormon gold coins, and a scale model of Salt Lake City in 1870. The history of the LDS Church is related in the exhibits that describe each of the church presidents, from Joseph Smith to present; activities include multimedia programs, films, and puppet shows. There's also a museum shop (closed Sun). Allow 1 hour.
