Just opening at press time, this museum is the sixth Madame Tussaud's in the world and mainland China's first. Located on the 10th floor of the New World Shopping Center on the north side of People's Square, the museum features more than 70 wax figures, including a mix of Chinese and foreign icons like Princess Diana, Bill Gates, Jackie Chan, Bill Clinton, Chinese Olympian Liu Xiang, and late Hong Kong singer and actor Leslie Cheung, all placed in seven themed areas including music, film, sports, history, and heroes. Billed as the most interactive Madame Tussaud's yet, the museum lets visitors have their photos taken shooting hoops with Yao Ming, playing soccer with David Beckham, or simply gazing into the eyes of Audrey Hepburn -- the celebrity of choice to be photographed with, according to surveys conducted in major Chinese cities.
