Boat Quay
COUNTRY: Singapore
Known as "the belly of the carp" by the local Chinese because of its shape, this area was once notorious for its opium dens and coolie shops. Nowadays, thriving restaurants boast every cuisine imaginable and the rocking nightlife offers up a variety of sounds -- jazz, rock, blues, Indian, and Caribe -- that are lively enough to get any couch potato tapping his feet.
Note: pronounce quay like
key.
