In a city teeming with domes, dungeons, castles and fairyland spires, the Charles Bridge stands out as a Gothic jewel. Construction began in 1357 and was complete by the early 1400s. It spans the Vltava (Moldau) River, joining Prague’s Old Town and Mala Strana districts. Thirty Baroque statues of saints and patron saints line both sides of the bridge, and the Gothic bridge towers at either end are straight out of Sleeping Beauty.
