14. Ponte Dom Luis, Porto, Portugal

Porto is sometimes called the City of Bridges, and the soaring Ponte Dom Luis I over the River Douro is among the best known. This arch bridge was completed in 1886, has a total length of 1,263.9 feet and height of 146 feet. The metal bridge is nearby the similar but disused Maria Pia Bridge, which also spans the Douro and was engineered by Gustave Eiffel in 1877.
