Instead of Mykonos, try Cyprus

Mykonos is splendid, but also small and overcrowded. Try Cyprus instead. The island "is the perfect winter destination," says Tasoula Manarides, director of the Cyprus Tourism Organization in New York. "And Cyprus is an island with very rich human history that dates back 10,000 years." Explore the Greco-Roman ruins at Kourion and Pafos and visit vineyards in the foothills of the Troodos Mountains—also home to numerous Greek Orthodox monasteries and elaborately painted Byzantine churches.
