Formerly known as the Niebaum Coppola Estate winery, the Rubicon Estate was recently renamed after owner Francis Ford Coppola reunited all of the estate's original vineyards. A true wine connoisseur at heart, the filmmaker bought the Rutherford, Calif., property in 1975 while looking for a new summer house for his family. (It was originally founded in 1880 by sea captain Gustave Neibaum.) Since then, the vineyard has grown under the Oscar-winning director's care, and features several levels of membership for wine buyers and a variety of daily tours, tastings and special events for visitors.
