This satellite shop of a Parisian favorite gets the nod in New York because it’s the only chocolatier with a liquor license. That means “chocolate sommelier” Richard Perl can teach unique tasting classes featuring the finest single-source chocolates paired with spirits such as cognac, muscat, single malt scotch, tequila and champagne. Joan Steuer notes that Cluizel is one of the few high-end chocolatiers whose packaging is “gender-free” and almost “masculine,” making it a good gift for both men and women.
