Royal Birkdale, on the northwest coast of England, is "one of the most pleasurable walks in links golf," says Bill Hogan. "There are very few places where you can see any other holes; it's up and down dunes, valleys and swales. As you come up through a dunes passageway to a green or tee, you find yourself saying again and again, 'Gosh, that's beautiful!'" Birkdale comes second on the British Open Tour.

Price: $5,000 per person, groups of eight; includes 10 nights lodging and nine rounds of golf.
