One of the hippest hotels on the planet, the Sky Hotel melds kitsch and class into one satisfying colorful whole. Located slopeside just steps from the Silver Queen Gondola in downtown Aspen, Kimpton Hotels renovated the old Aspen Club Lodge beyond recognition and reopened the property in 2002. The rooms are a study in color and animal prints, with perks like cordless phones, iPod docking stations, and humidifiers. The only complaint is that the rooms are pretty small -- look elsewhere if you need space to spread out. The year-round pool features an outdoor bar, a waterfall, and a pair of fire pits. Walk inside to the ultra-hip bar, 39 degrees, with an undulating sofa in the center, great burgers, and unusual specialty cocktails like the Botox Martini. The lobby is for the ages, with a 15-foot chandelier shaped like a bright red lampshade, stately wood columns, high-backed white chairs, and an assortment of proudly displayed board games like Sorry! and Yahtzee.
