"The Blue Goose" lies in the historic core of Salzburg, near the underground garages of the Mönchsberg, a few doors away from hotels that charge almost twice as much. The building that contains it is probably 700 years old, but the rooms were renovated extensively between 1998 and 2000. Each has modern furniture and a bit more space than you might expect. Rooms facing the courtyard are quieter than those facing the street; nos. 332 and 336 are probably the biggest. All units have well-kept bathrooms with tub/shower combinations. You'll register in an understated lobby, one that's so discreetly tucked away that it might be hard to identify. Within the same building is a historic restaurant and beer hall, Stadtgasthof Blaue Gans.
