The ancestor of this hotel was built in 1271, and parts of it still remain within the massive walls of this well-known establishment. The hotel, next to the Spiel-Casino and 180m (591 ft.) from the Hahnenkamm cable-car station, has many balconies and elaborate shutters. Owner Josef Harisch (his daughter, Maria Harisch, runs the hotel now) likes traditional charm with a good dose of luxury thrown in. The interior contains fireplaces, antique furniture, oriental carpets, Tyrolean paintings, and The Greif Keller in, of course, the cellar. The comfortable, attractive rooms have firm beds. Most rooms are quite spacious, and many have alpine oak furnishings, alcove seats, nonworking fireplaces, parquet floors, double-glazed windows, and (in some cases) a whirlpool. Bathrooms are midsize and contain bidets and tub/shower combinations. If you want to splurge a bit, you can request one of the deluxe suites, many with a hunting-lodge motif and their own Jacuzzis, private steam baths, and fireplaces. The superb
Restaurant Goldener Greif serves Austrian and regional cuisine.
