This no-nonsense, efficiently designed, green-fronted hotel rises prominently across West Bay Street's sometimes busy traffic, from the narrow sands known variously as Junkanoo Beach, Lighthouse Beach, Long Wharf, and the Western Esplanade. Partly because of its compact rooms, it's the least desirable, and also the least expensive, of the also-recommended hotels (the Nassau Palm and the El Greco) that lie nearby within this congested downtown neighborhood. But during the peak of winter, when other competitors might be more expensive or sold out completely, it offers comfortable, unpretentious lodgings in a six-story venue that might be appealing if you don't expect tons of amenities or superlative service.
