On a quiet street in the historic downtown district, this charming inn surrounds a grassy courtyard with a fountain, small pool, and a tasteful mission-style chapel for weddings. It offers a relaxing, elegant alternative to busy hotels, as well as excellent value. Rooms are decorated with rustic wood and contemporary iron furniture. Nice-size bathrooms have colorful tile accents. Rooms have two double beds, while suites have king-size beds and a sitting room. A pool area with palapa bar, and 14 impeccable poolside suites were added in 2003. These newer suites have minibars and other extras, while all rooms offer satellite DirecTV. The owners, Cliff and Blanca (a lifelong resident of San José), can help arrange fishing packages and golf and diving outings. The inn is a half-block from the church.
