What began as a hotel targeting a metropolitan gay audience has become a hot spot for all style-savvy travelers where anything goes, providing it's hip. Though it remains unique for now, it probably won't be long before others try to emulate its success. There's a cool, scarlet-colored cocktail bar and restaurant in the lobby, and a rooftop pool and sun deck. Should you find yourself with nothing suitable to wear, check out the men's designer-clothing store next door (run, not coincidentally, by the Axel). A nice little extra touch is the provision of free bottled mineral water in refrigerators on every floor. All bedrooms are soundproof and have king-size beds strewn with squashy pillows. (There's definitely an emphasis on quality bed time here.) The art is erotic and the sleek en-suite bathrooms are designed for two with tub/shower combos. (Superior rooms have Jacuzzis).
