This hotel recently completed a massive renovation that has left them awash in sparkling white marble and public spaces with plenty of natural light. Standard double rooms are a bit on the small side, but they come with swanky new flatscreen TVs and decent-size bathrooms. The beige and cream decor is soothing, but the carpets don't quite hide the stains. The location at the north end of Wangfujing, the city's popular shopping district, is pretty well near perfect. They are also far more affordable than The Peninsula hotel around the corner. Facilities: 2 restaurants (Cantonese, Western); bar; tiny indoor pool; small health club with old equipment; underwhelming Jacuzzi, sauna, and solarium; concierge; business center; salon; 24-hr. room service; babysitting; same-day dry cleaning/laundry service
