This was one of the first of the boutique hotels to open in Buenos Aires in 2004 during the tourism boom. It's in what was once a budget hostel, and the owners have done a good job of keeping the historical nature of the property. You'll find high ceilings, rich wood details on the doors, and even "Viva Perón" etched into the mirrors of the 100-year-old elevator. Some rooms are on the small side, but all have such interesting details as polished concrete floors with embedded ornamental tiles and comfy linens in neutral tones and wicker accents on the furniture. All rooms have free Wi-Fi access. Bathrooms are on the small side, and all have showers only. The lobby is a beautiful space, with art and leather couches, and the public areas on each floor are also spacious. Mirrors from the adjoining buildings reflect into the public areas, giving a greater sense of space. A rooftop solarium also has great views, and there are two guest rooms located here as well. There are no rooms for people with disabilities, and the extensive stairs throughout will make it difficult for anyone with limited mobility. There is no gym or pool on the property. The hotel will sometimes describe itself as being located in Recoleta, but it is truly in Barrio Norte.
