Located just steps from the historic Falmouth Village Green and a bike-rental shop, and a short stroll to Main Street's shops and restaurants, the Palmer House Inn, a vintage Queen Anne Victorian, has a terrific location. Innkeepers Bill and Pat O'Connell are most welcoming. Rooms are decorated to highlight the inn's 19th-century heritage with pretty floral wallpaper, curtains, and bedding. Rooms feature majestic beds, including a canopied mahogany beauty in a turret room. The Henry James Room on the third floor has a romantically draped four-poster bed and a whirlpool bath under a skylit cathedral ceiling. All rooms have luxurious sheets and ceiling fans. Some have VCRs and minifridges. The living room is a fine place to curl up with a book in front of the fireplace or to gather before dinner with a glass of wine, provided by your hosts. Breakfasts in the sunny dining room are elaborate affairs with options like Swiss eggs in puff pastry or chocolate-stuffed French toast.
