In a beautifully restored 18th-century Cape Dutch estate, surrounded by lush gardens and with the Drakenstein Mountains as dramatic backdrop, this is one of the most expensive and exclusive accommodations options in the Winelands. It has all the amenities you'd expect from a classy hotel (not to mention a top-rated restaurant, Bosman's; see below), and even though it's only minutes from Paarl's town center, the mountain and vineyard views that embrace the homestead create a relaxing country atmosphere. The doubles have integrated lounges/bedrooms and are extremely luxurious and roomy, so no need to book a suite. Most rooms also come with private terraces. Service is tip-top -- a request for train information was doggedly researched by one of the managers. Many people come for the relaxing spa treatments; it's not unusual to see robe-clad guests blissfully wandering the grounds, which are in turn well-tended.
