Despite the fact that this is not a hotel, these spacious B&B suites, located in separate cottages below the Franschhoek Pass, are a personal top Winelands choice, particularly the aptly named Vista suite, which is the most private of the five. The La Petite Ferme vineyards are within touching distance, and beyond are sweeping valley and mountain views, enjoyed from your king-size bed or your private terrace with plunge pool. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, with all the creature comforts needed for a wonderful stay, and the staff is intelligent and attentive. Luncheons can be enjoyed at the adjacent restaurant or at nearby Haute Cabriere; alternatively, staff will arrange for transfers into the village at night, or day tours of the wineries. Some may find the suites a little cut off from the action -- at around 4pm, the restaurant closes, and staff is now a phone call away -- but I consider this level of privacy, in this kind of location, priceless.
