The Lanzerac is considered one of the top luxury hotel options in the Winelands, with a gracious historic manor, and outlying rooms and suites sublimely situated amid rolling vineyards and soaring peaks of the beautiful Jonkershoek Valley. The standard \"classic\" rooms, furnished in reproduction antiques, are comfortable, but for real privacy, opt for one of the huge suites privately situated in the gardens. The Lanzerac is very laid-back and child friendly, with huge lawns for kids to romp on, but service is not keeping pace with the competition: Unless you prefer large hotels, new boutique guesthouses like African Valley Estate and Hawksmoor House are giving the Lanzerac the proverbial run for its money, and quite honestly, the Franschhoek options are quite a few paces ahead.
