This hotel (previously La Couronne before a devastating fire in 2006), perched on a hill overlooking the valley, enjoys one of the most unique and beautiful settings in Franschhoek; views from every window are marvelous (although not as sweeping as the La Petite Ferme suites that perch below the pass across the valley). Having joined forces with its upmarket sister winery next door, the hotel now offers guests a full wine experience with all the bells and whistles one would expect from a five-star (and rather expensive) establishment. There are 16 elegantly appointed bedrooms, all with mountain and/or vineyard views as well as six individually decorated suites with private lounge areas, generous-size bathrooms, and all the high-tech gadgets one might need on a weekend getaway. At the hotel's restaurant, Mange Tout, executive chef Ryan Smith serves up world-class French-inspired dishes with a strong local flavor.
