This is the most upscale apartment-hotel resort on the North Sound. This government-rated five-star facility was originally built in 2000 on scrubland that had been shunned by many other developers. Within a short drive of the island's biggest golf course, facing the rocky beachfront of North Sound, you'll find an opulent cluster of beige-yellow apartments, each designed in a modernized version of the British colonial style. Accommodations occupy a series of two- and three-story wings, and furnishings in each unit are more elegant than the major competitors. The granite-trimmed private kitchens are genuinely plush. Sound-insulated doors can be locked and unlocked to allow configurations of units ranging from studios to full-blown two-bedroom suites. Each bedroom includes a shower/whirlpool-tub combination, plus a veranda or balcony. The social center is a well-designed and pleasant restaurant and bar that's more casual and relaxed than you might expect for such an upscale venue. Our objections to this hotel involve landscaping that simply doesn't look finished, a sense that some parts of the complex are still in the process of being built, and a rocky beachfront (which is, nonetheless, good for snorkeling). If none of these aspects bother you, you'll have a fine time sunbathing and enjoying the resort's sense of space and relative isolation.
