This secluded, remote group of privately owned condominiums, located on Rum Point peninsula, opens onto 390m (1,280 ft.) of white-sand beach. The beach, shaded by casuarina trees, is a bit narrow and can hardly compare to the wide sands of Seven Mile Beach, but the place draws tranquillity seekers for its relative isolation. The retreat is a 35-minute drive from George Town or the airport. The condos are owner-occupied for part of the year and are rented otherwise. Each condo has been individually decorated by its particular owner, and most feature typical Caribbean decor, with wicker and rattan. All units contain private balconies. Each condo has a fully equipped kitchen, as well as a washer and dryer. Small groups ranging from two to six people can be accommodated here in one- to three-bedroom beachfront condos. All units receive maid service. The Hyatt Rum Point Club -- with its beach bar and barbecue -- is right next door. The Red Ginger and the Lighthouse at Breakers restaurants are within walking distance. Right next door to the Retreat is an office of Red Sail Sports, an excellent watersports outfitter.
