This grand edifice is all polished marble and white columns with 10 floors of pomp. Everything about the place is shiny, new, and grand. They bill themselves as a beach resort, but you have to cross a very busy street to get to the sand and waves. Rooms are decorated with light colored furniture made of particle board wood, and sofas have removable Velcro covers. Most have great views of ocean-side Tran Phu Street and the beach. The executive suites are on the 10th floor. Elevator doors open to a huge, six-column Greek/Roman entrance to the private bar. Rooms are spacious and decidedly sensual -- a frosted glass divider bears silhouette images of semi-nude ancient Cham dancers and a Jacuzzi is set up on the balcony with a gorgeous, private view of the ocean. The layout of the hotel is a bit confusing. Reputable spa chain Qi Spa is attached to the hotel, next to the Shiseido boutique, but you have to navigate through hallways to a separate wing to get to it. The pool is one floor above the lobby, but you have to walk through a big, empty room to get to it. It feels like you're walking through someone's basement or storage room. Not a top choice for your beach vacation.
