Rooms are bland and show their age, but this hotel is centrally located, clean, and fairly comfortable with new tile and marble bathrooms (be sure to ask for a recently renovated room). It's very popular with big tour groups. Standard rooms are rather small, with older carved-wood furniture and an impersonal layout that leaves guests feeling rather cold. The river-view rooms are more than worth the extra outlay (usually about $10/£5.55) and there are great views from upper floors of the busy river: long-tail boats puttering by or fishermen paddling small dugouts. The pool is in a prime spot by the river, and the Riverside Restaurant offers nice views along with good, familiar fare, if a bit bland.
