Frommer's Very Highly Recommended

On the main strip overlooking Tran Phu and the ocean blue, this 5-year-old Japan/Vietnam joint venture bridges the gap between the ultraluxe resorts and low-end minihotels -- a good compromise. All rooms have good, basic amenities, as cozy as your favorite highway hotel chain back home. Upper-level rooms have good views of the sea, some with balconies, and the view from corner suites is quite spectacular and worth the upgrade. The lowest standard, the superior, is quite comfortable and large, if bland; the deluxe room, an upgraded version of the superior and on higher floors, is your best bet for atmosphere, comfort, and price. Everything is done in cream or tan carpet, and rooms have flower-print spreads (no shiny polyester). Large, clean tile bathrooms are homey. Service is friendly, there are lots of good dining options on-site (the Red Onion is a local favorite), the rooftop pool is small but inviting, and it's just a short hop across busy Tran Phu Street to the beach. A good breakfast buffet is included.
