New owners have transformed this gracious 200-year-old hotel, renewing it as the model of Eastern Shore hospitality it had been for decades. Crisp white linens, softly colored walls, and gleaming white-tiled baths are the major changes. New suites offer a smidge more room; Room 231 has great space and a view of the renovated courtyard. Public rooms feature elegant upholstery and gleaming brass. The most startling change is the restaurant, now called Local, which layers trendy furniture and blue lighting over its brick-faced shell. Seafood remains the menu's focus. If you want to stay here for the Waterfowl Festival, make reservations at least a year ahead. Coming to hunt? Of course there's room for your dogs.
