This family-friendly hotel manages to appeal to both adults and kids -- the Prairie-style lobby and breakfast lounge give the place a tranquil feel, while the indoor pool and free hot breakfast are a plus for families. Built in 1998, the hotel still feels brand-new; the rooms have an urban look, with dark wood furniture and plush duvets. You can book a standard room, which includes a desk, armchair, and ottoman; a studio, which has a microwave, sink, and minifridge along one wall; or a suite, which includes a kitchenette, separate bedroom, and VCR. Request a room overlooking Illinois or Dearborn streets if you crave natural light. Nice, user-friendly touches include a nightlight in the bathroom and clock radios with guides to local radio stations. An Italian restaurant is located off the lobby, and a second-floor skywalk connects to Ruth's Chris Steak House next door. The complimentary continental breakfast with two hot items per day, served in an attractive second-floor lounge, can save families money on food; you won't need much lunch if you fill up here each morning.
