Housed in a restored old home on a quiet street in the heart of the Barrio Escalante neighborhood just east of the city center, this little bed-and-breakfast makes a good base for exploring the city or this side of town. The rooms are simple and tastefully done with locally crafted wooden furniture, plenty of light, local art on the walls, and a homey feel, but some are pretty small. All rooms have showers only. Breakfast is served in an open-air rancho overlooking a lovely little garden. The hotel is run by a Costa Rican family, and you really get the feel that you are staying in a typical Tico home here.
