The big brother of the Istanbul Hilton, the Conrad (named after Paris Hilton's grandfather) is not as style conscious and caters more for the traveling businessman. Looming 14 floors over the highest point of the hilly neighborhood of Besiktas, adjacent to Yildiz Palace, the hotel offers stunning views of the Bosphorus and the Old City. In this historic city straddling two continents, the Conrad is the closest option for access to both the business district and the bridge over to the Asian side.
The quality of the rooms (there are about a dozen different varieties) combined with the breathtaking views from the upper floors make the Conrad a hotel to return to. Equipped with all mod-cons and laid out in dark mahogany tones, the rooms are spacious and modern without being too sterile.
Manager Jean-Sebastian Kling has done an excellent job of making this hotel a great place to stay for business or pleasure. The service is attentive and the hotel offers every possible amenity, from state-of-the-art conference center spread over three connecting floors to tennis courts. Business floor guests enjoy certain privileges such as access to Club Lounges with wifi, satellite TV and a smorgasbord of complimentary snacks laid out all day.
Besides four top-notch restaurant choices serving up French, Italian and traditional Turkish cuisine, you can enjoy an Efes lager or sundowner cocktail from the terrace of the Summit bar--guaranteed to put you to bed early. The Conrad boats a health club with sauna, steam bath, indoor/outdoor pool. Weekends oftentimes feature conferences and parties for Istanbul's upper echelons, so be prepared to bump into the city's more establishment kingmakers.
