A much quieter alternative to the Hotel Chiari Bigallo, its sister hotel around the corner , the Lanzi is just as centrally located and more comfortable; it just doesn't have those drop-dead views of the Duomo and bell tower, and the entrance is not particularly photogenic. Still, the beds have firm mattresses and spreads embroidered in an antique Florentine pattern. The accommodations, in fact, are all done very tastefully for a hotel of this price. The rooms come with shiny new bathrooms sporting heated towel racks (in most). Many rooms on the front get a magnificent window-filling side view of the Duomo, but even if you don't get the vista, you can be assured of cozy, relaxing accommodations just steps from the city's major sights and shopping. Breakfast is a full buffet, with fruit and ham.
