This property offers one of the South Pacific's best beach-lagoon combinations, for it sits right on Avea Beach, the white sand stretching along the peninsula on Huahine's south end. A pier from the main building runs out over a giant coral head, around which fish and guests swim. You can just climb down off the pier and swim with the fishes. I cannot tell you much about the accommodations, since a major renovation was upgrading it from relais to resort during my recent visit. The first stage, to be completed by 2007, aims to enlarge and improve the existing bungalows (heretofore lacking TVs, phones, and other amenities). An infinity pool and other features are to be added later. Be sure to check the website to see if it has reopened.
