One of Grenada's best hotels lies on an isolated, beautiful beach at Quarantine Point, near the extreme southern tip of the island. Designed along architectural lines you might expect in Indonesia, the resort consists of 16 thatch-covered, wood-and-stone-sided cottages, each with a small pool, artwork, and fabric-swathed four-poster beds imported from Bali. Scattered up and down a hillside, about 1.5km (1 mile) north of the Port Salines airport, they lie within a 2-minute walk from the beach. Bathrooms are light, airy, tropical affairs, often open to the breezes. The resort's social and architectural centerpiece is a clubhouse, the site of big verandas. The resort is a glittery, hedonistic niche. The restaurant, which is open to nonresidents who phone in advance, is less than 12m (40 ft.) from the beach.
