Popular with tour groups, the Galaxy is on a busy corner just north of the Old Quarter -- a good spot to begin exploring this colorful part of the city. Converted from a 1929 factory, the recently renovated building is colorless but comfortable. The paneled-wood decor is plain, overall, and getting a bit tattered. Tile bathrooms are small but neat. Corner suites are a great option, with windows facing two directions over the Old Quarter. A good Asian restaurant is on the premises, as well as an inviting lobby bar. Friendly staff members will remember your name and can suggest good places to dine and city tours.
