This massive midrange number is far south of the tourist area of Hanoi, but the Hanoi Horison attracts international businesspeople (mostly a high-end regional market from Singapore or nearby China), as well as a burgeoning leisure market, and covers all the bases. This is a good choice for comfort and, for some, a welcome distance from "tourist Hanoi" (but just a short cab ride to the sights). Horison is built around a 14-story tower of glass, with an elevator open to the views of the busy street scene below and two massive wings extending from the glass centerpiece. The lobby is grand and the service is effusive from the moment someone opens the door for you. Deluxe rooms are very large, and a much higher standard than superior, certainly worth the upgrade. Furnishings are a little nicked and scraped from use, but the rooms are decorated in a cozy, contemporary style with funky white floor lamps that shine mellow, indirect light and big, comfy beds. Swimming in the pool gives you a commanding view of the busy intersection below. Facilities: 2 restaurants; 2 bars; outdoor pool w/vanishing edge and city view; tennis court; health club; spa; Jacuzzi; sauna; concierge; tour desk; car-rental desk; business center; shopping arcade; salon; room service; massage; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning; nonsmoking rooms; concierge/club-level rooms
