On a quiet street in a residential area just 150 yards from Hanalei Bay lies one of the best deals on the North Shore. The three guest rooms in Carolyn Barnes's three-story house range from a 700-square-foot suite with a 360-degree view to a miniapartment on the ground floor with a kitchenette and an outdoor shower. The location couldn't be better (some guests don't even bother to rent a car). It's a 4-minute walk to Hanalei Bay's 2-mile-long beach, and a 10-minute walk to the shops and restaurants of Hanalei. For families, Carolyn also has a cozy two-bedroom, one-bathroom house a couple of blocks away.
