This is your chance to stay right on the beach, at the best prices. This small, older hotel faces a grassy lawn, coconut trees, and a white-sand beach. Don't expect the Hyatt, but at these prices and this location it's a great way for frugal travelers to enjoy the beach. It offers economical rooms and friendly service in an ideal location, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, golf, and tennis, and just 50 yards away from good swimming and snorkeling. There's even an 8-mile bike path that starts right on the grounds. Recently purchased by a new owner, the hotel has gone through massive renovations bringing it up to the 21st century in both decor and amenities in the rooms (flatscreen TVs, DVDs, and so forth). Of the two wings in the hotel, we prefer the oceanfront one that has big rooms that overlook the beach through sliding-glass lanai doors. Each two-room unit has a separate bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed -- perfect for families. Also added are a new fitness center, plus sauna. Coffee and pastries are served in the lobby in the morning.
