Located in the heart of Kapaa, a block from the beach, this hostel provides clean rooms in a friendly atmosphere. Guests are generally European backpackers. The low-rise buildings feature a very clean kitchen and laundry facilities, a TV, a pool table, and a barbecue area; just 1 block from the highway, it's within walking distance of shops and restaurants. In addition to the bunk-bed dorm rooms, there are private rooms for two (with shared bathrooms). Airport pickup is available ($15). A new manager, who calls himself Maikiki (rhythms with Waikiki), is the new sheriff here and he is not interested in \"rent-a-wreck\" type visitors, deadbeats, or drug users. He has renovated the building by re-doing all the floors, repainting walls (some with original artwork by a local artist) and replacing all the bedding. He's added a women-only bunk-bed room and has arranged concerts, cultural exchanges and other activities where his guests can meet local Kauai residents.
