This three-story hotel located in an unpolished corner of Sultanahmet just steps behind the Hippodrome occupies a restored Ottoman house that has remained in the same family for over 80 years. The owner has retained traditional touches such as family heirloom furnishings and "grandmother Gül's caftan" in the lobby's salon. Rooms feature charming Ottoman style decor, wood floors, and classic Turkish rugs, but the rickety stall showers (reminiscent of two-star pensions I've stayed at in Rome) indicate that the bathrooms need updating. There are two suites, each with a balcony, the only two tubs in the house, and flatscreen TVs. Better yet, the basement level has a little hamam (reservations required).
