This hotel at the fringes of Sultanahmet (near Küçük Ayasofya Camii and Kumkapi) is owned by the same people who run the Naz Wooden House and the Sultan's Inn . All are small and charming, bed-and-breakfast-type places with various pros and cons. The main attraction of the Deniz Konak is the breathtaking views of the Marmara Sea. Alas, these very same sea-facing views come at a price: the commuter train just below (so much for the double-glazed windows). Each of the rooms facing the sea has a small bonus balcony, for 20€ ($28/£14) extra (no extra charge for the train). Guests have the option of taking breakfast at the Sultan's Inn across the street, which was actually a bit more ample than the one at the Deniz Konak when I visited. All of the major sites are in walking distance (mostly up gentle slopes), but perhaps just a bit farther than one might want.
