Eagerly anticipated for well on 4 years now, the new Four Seasons on the Bosphorus is going to keep us in suspense just a little bit longer. The latest scheduled opening was projected for November 2007, which came and went. Surely it will be up and running by the time this book hits the stores and in time for the 2008 summer season? As a result, I can only speak of this hotel in generalities: The hotel complex is composed of the restored and stately Ottoman Atik Pasa mansion, flanked by two regrettably practical modern blocks. (If the Çiragan can get away with it, then why not the Four Seasons?) Apart from that tiny criticism, the hotel aims to be -- in the model of Four Seasons everywhere -- a practically flawless center of hospitality and service. East-facing rooms in the pasa's mansion benefit from spectacular, head-on views of the Bosphorus. The (heated) outdoor pool sits seamlessly adjacent to the seafront, and a private dock provides convenient access, via the hotel's speedboat service (or one's private yacht) to key points around the city (or to nowhere, whichever is one's pleasure). Facilities: 2 restaurants; 3 bars, indoor and outdoor pool; spa; hamam; sauna; massage; fitness room; concierge; business center w/translation services; 24-hr. room service; laundry service; dry cleaning; meeting facilities; banquet facilities; cinema; Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet; elevator
