Located on the outer edges of Sultanahmet in Cankurtaran near the Ahirkapi Gate, the Hotel Armada is a true four-star hotel that makes a good choice for groups. (Individuals who decide to stay here should realize that it's a short yet uphill walk to all major sights.) It boasts an expansive lobby cafe, an atmospheric bar, and one of the best rooftop terraces anywhere in the neighborhood. Rooms are decorated in "Ottoman style" simplicity, with wooden chair rails, decorative painted flowers, and subdued fabrics. The bathrooms are small but functional, with a negligible amount of wear and tear around the edges. A buffet breakfast is served in a delightful penthouse atrium adjacent to the terrace (the restaurant dining room), and the fish restaurants of Kumkapi are within walking distance (as is Balikçi Sabahattin restaurant). Weekend guests may want to request a room away from the evening entertainment to insulate themselves from the late-night echoes through the marble staircases.
