The Gambero family has run this small hotel, which occupies an old villa on the waterfront, since 1939, and it is now in the capable hands of Claudio and Silvana. They have spent the past several years improving their property, with great attention to detail, especially in the guest rooms. New hardwood floors have been laid, and handsome wood desks and shelving units have been built to match. Double-pane windows keep noise from the seaside avenue out front to a minimum, and bathrooms feature top-of-the-line fixtures. Many of the fine old touches remain, including small balconies off many of the rooms with vistas over the harbor. Three of the suites are perfect for families, consisting of two separate bedrooms and a shared bathroom off a hall, while the fourth is a single large corner room with three balconies, one off the double-sink bathroom. A sunny terrace overlooking the sea extends from the new restaurant/breakfast room, where a generous buffet is served every morning and reasonable fixed-price menus (as well as a la carte) at mealtimes.
